Re: Calamity Ridge to Cucamonga Peak
Yes, Justin Williams is correct…one of these times we will have to go up together and put some more work in. Me and my friend Ryan cleared the first four miles during the major snow because everything was hanging so low across the trail. We couldn’t hike into the forested section because it was so d...

Re: Calamity Ridge to Cucamonga Peak
That section is the worst near Calamity Canyon and it’s been like that for awhile...It will take some work to get just a single track again. Your help on the forested section is appreciated! I had cleared a lot of it too but there was still more brush buried under snow that I couldn’t get to. I’m pr...

Re: Calamity Ridge to Cucamonga Peak
Yes! I believe Cecelia or Sean told me about EisPiraten. You’re welcome for the trail work. I was checking out Frankish Peak and discovered the Cucamonga Truck Trail was passable from Baldy Road all the way to Sapphire. So I was curious how far it was passable and returned. I ended up walking all th...

Re: Calamity Ridge to Cucamonga Peak
Wow! I’m in awe that you made it to Cucamonga Peak, perhaps alittle jealous even lol. We spent months working our way up to Greater Calamity Peak and I needed a break. I am also planning the Sage to Sky Challenege Aug. 13-14th from Etiwanda Preserve - Etiwanda Ridge - Joe Elliot - Cucamonga- to Bald...

Re: Campsite
If you find that old trail please let me know! This is the coolest find! I’m interested in any history for this area, it’s seems so hard to find much written information. I found some info in John Robinson’s book, The San Gabriels, but not so much detail. I heard conflicting reports about who Joe El...

Re: Sierra Peak attempt
That is the route that I took, you weren’t that far from the top, but you still had some steep sections and then once you reach Leonard Rd. you have to walk over to the communication towers. I didn’t have enough time to get there either.

Re: Pt. 7394' (or shortcut to Etiwanda)
Sean, maybe half way up the wash is where I found the water. HikeUp, I was inspired to go up that route because I am looking for a shortcut to Joe Elliot and the Cucamonga Peak Trail/Big Trees Trailhead. I’ve been working on the trail trying to cut away fallen trees. I got much of the smaller scrub ...

Re: Pt. 7394' (or shortcut to Etiwanda)
I have hiked to Point 7394 and made a video for it: https://www.youtube.com/embed/qUnrnMHXgFo I went up th drainage from Stonehouse Crossing and down the ridge. I came down the ridge into the drainage wash on the other side. A path to the ridge needs to be defined. Once that is done there would be a...
