Re: The Andrew Curtis Tungsten Mine
After a heavy winter here at Baldy 2023 I decided to have a look at the tungsten mine site to see what all the snow and rain did to the area. Quonset hut along with the roof over the shaker tables has collapsed probably due to heavy snow and or Ice build up...? There is water most of the way up to t...

Re: The Andrew Curtis Tungsten Mine
I use to work at this mine in 2008 and 2009. Crazy to see its gone. I have seen the assays great ore. Took many breaks in that office. Good to see those pictures Man have I moved many rocks out of that road to get to work. The worst was when we opened after the rains and everything was washed out, ...

Re: Miners camp
The internet talks about the "Blue Diamond Mine": https://www.mindat.org/loc-88150.html And the aerials show it on an old dirt road. Is that the one you were on? No but it's very close, just downslope to the east from the Blue Diamond Mine Icon on the mindat.org site, in fact they may con...

Miners camp
Took a stroll from the Baldy notch road down the backside towards Lytle creek about 2 miles where there are several miners platforms, I'm guessing, 6 or 7 in all perfectly flat and supported by rock walls overgrown with manzanita but still visible if you look around. I was reading about the Baldy mi...

Re: Tungsten Mine / Cattle Canyon abandoned?
I take my Mtn Bike down the Tungsten mine rd a few times a year and then hike up to the Tungsten mine itself, a beautiful and remote canyon even with an abandoned mine and all the associated equipment littering the canyon bottom. As you walk/ride down the Tungsten mine rd there are two canyons that ...

Re: Campsite
I did not know the history of the Flats - good stuff! The mortars are beyond the Grapevine spring but before the fork in the road leading to the communication towers at around 4800 - 5000 foot level. There are Mortars on both sides of the road one is literally 10 ft. from the road, but still easy to...

Campsite
The San Sevaine Rd recently opened so I decided to take a ride up on the KTM350. Lots of water in the nearby springs and lots of big Oaks bursting with still green acorns. There was a decent amount of Deer and Bear sign in the area as well as a couple hunters scouting for the deer season opener. A v...

Re: San Sevaine LO and Rafael BM
I also noticed the open gate leading up to San Sevaine Flats. Rode my Mtn bike up to the Native American campsite in this area, a long ride for sure, but with the cool temps as of late it was the right time for some uphill punishment. Sean your pictures tell me you were right by the campsite/Acorn m...
