Re: your choice of knife for your trip...what and why?

I always have a medium folder on me, a Kershaw Random Leek in S30V. Awesome knife, holds an edge forever and I've even used it to split small logs and kindling.

For longer trips I'll also bring a big fixed blade, a Chris Reeve Neil Roberts, also in S30V.

2/2/12 - free REI Avy Awareness Class

Never been to one of these, but it might be a nice way to kill a Thursday night. 6:30-8:30PM at the Santa Monica location, put on in tandem with AIARE ( http://avtraining.org/ ). http://www.rei.com/event/33365/session/41833 to RSVP. I went ahead and signed up; 12 spots left as of this post, but I'm ...

I've seen pictures where people have used those doorway pull-up bar units to mount a hangboard. You get one of the ones that cantilever around the back of the door frame, with perpendicular grips (I have one of these, and it's great: http://ws-na.assoc-amazon.com/widgets/cm?l=as1&f=ifr&o=1&a...

Oh man, I had not idea it was that EXTREEM to go early.

All I saw was "oh hey, RMI is up there starting around then, it must be safe, and we can mooch off their tracks and wands and such"

I am mildly averse to dying.

A lid for a Nalgene bottle that I can attach my drinking tube on directly. W/a built in sediment filter. Part of a Steripen UL water system concept. That would be a winner for me as well, good ideal Migolito :D Not really playing to your manufacturing strengths, but along the same vein, a UV steril...

LA River Ride

Doin' the century this Sunday.

Anyone else going to be there? Did the same ride last year and it was pretty fun. Not too hard because the ride profile is pretty much flat except for minor climbs at the start and finish.

Re: Amgen Tour, May 21 (Sat) - Mt. Baldy Limited Access

So I guess one could go there in the morning and snag parking along the road up to Icehouse, but then you're kind of stuck down below the epic finishing climb. What's a good plan to be able to be at Manker or the lift lots on Saturday? Get dropped off before 11? Will they even allow drop offs? Costu...

Re: San Gabriel River Bike Trail Thing

It's kind of 'meh' all the way down, I mean you're riding the SG river; it doesn't get prettier going south. The neighborhood gets better, but the concrete:nature ratio gets much higher. But once you get into Seal Beach you can either exit into old town and drink (my SOP), or dead end into the beach...
