Re: Michelle Yu's Last words

This issue comes up all the time on climbing forums. Is there a point where incident analysis and education infringes disproportionately on the emotions of the victim's friends and family?

Ultimately though, nobody ever changes a mod's mind, and nobody is forcing you to be here.

Sorry subscribers, but to many damn rednecks and mountain trash were yip yapping, seems that calling SARS underfunded and unreliable really upsets the white trash. I also really didn’t feel like have the epically historic debate of civilian operations training vs military training which then always...

Re: How to ice-axe self arrest

I am also leaning towards having the ice axe rigged securely to me. Last season I kept my axe attached to my pack's hip belt, problem was that when I wanted to drop my pack down I had to un-clip the sling -- so I didn't like that setup, besides pack's hip belt is not all that secure anyway. This se...

Re: Proper ice axe size

Also of consideration is how AWESOME you look just holding it. Try different poses, like The Lumberjack, The Rock Star, The Axe Murderer, etc. You'll find one length that works best for most situations. Color coordination is also key; get an axe in a hue that best complements your current outdoor wa...

Re: Hiking Baldy (and surrounding peaks) in Winter

As it's been mentioned, it all depends on the weather and snow conditions, as well as what route you're taking. That said, most of the time I've been up Baldy or other San G mountains in the winter, I've encountered conditions where crampons were either hugely beneficial, or downright necessary for ...

They only rent the shoothouse to military or law enforcement agencies and legit training schools. I would highly recommend trying to secure one of the &qu...

Getting back up might not even be an issue - if it's mission accomplished, we can just lower you down into the bow...
