Does it have kevlar in it so that he can knock away the rockfall on his ascents?
Funny you should mention that - the "Stealth" shirt and pants are a poly/kevlar blend.

Arc'teryx Veilance collection

Anyone see this yet? Arc'teryx is dabbling in fashion - they've got a Fall '09 collection with a few jackets, shirts, sweaters, pants, and a couple tees. I guess the concept is making casual/business-dress clothes and outerwear using technical fabrics, coatings, and features. The mark-ups are pretty...

Unofficial report is out on the accident we witnessed at JTree last month. "1. Woody Stark led a 100' climb on The Great Burrito formation (Real Hidden Valley). He placed an anchor on top. "2. Al Kwok followed the climb, trailing a second rope for the third person (Wendell Smith). The seco...

I had a chat with the bungee jump folks, and they said their reservations are full for the day on Saturday. He said that there's usually time at the end of the day for walk-ins, but we're talking 4-5pm here, then hiking out by headlamp.

Can you just show up and pay cash to the bungee outfit? Looking at their website, it says stuff about $20 deposits, reservations, balance due a week out, etc..

I dig my Capilene 3 bottoms. Those plus softshell pants have been perfect for just about anything the SGs have thrown my way. If you expect rain, go with hardshell pants.

Re: Cheap Cams (erm, "inexpensive")

Nothing even close to climbing equipment on their online shop, so it's gotta be an in-store thing. Maybe just the one location (product manager is a climber and wanted to stock his store with stuff he needs so he can get it at cost?).

Re: POSSIBLY THE TRUTH TO WHY OUR SEASONS ARE CHANGING

Actually, we're in the phase of the earth's life cycle that's like a top running out of steam. The wobble will increase until entropy causes us to fall over on our side. One side of the earth will be a furnace, the other a frigid waste. The only habitable portion of the earth will be on the thin ed...

I think it's a direct results of all the people going up Ice House Saddle at the same time - :D it put too much leverage on the West Coast causing the earth to tilt to the left. If it had been 45% we could be sitting on the Equator Hiking Downhill to the top of Baldy? The problem with the whole thi...

Wow, sorry to hear about your hoopty. Glad you're alright.

After a particularly harrowing experience near Arrowhead, I started to keep chains in my car all year round. It seemed like if I even took them out in the spring or summer, I'd forget to put them back in for the first winter outing.
