Telegraph Peak and Pt. 7465 via Middle Fork Lytle Creek off trail route - trip report and photos
A couple weeks ago Uncle Rico asked if anyone had been to point 7465 east of Telegraph Peak and above Middle Fork Lytle Creek. Several people had been to nearby peaks or points along the ridge, but not that specific spot. It sounded like a fun trip over a rarely visited point and I had never started...

Re: Which Way To Occidental?
Yeah, I have no idea where the class 1 route could possibly be from where we turned back on the west side of the peak, that saddle and climb to the summit was very steep and loose from where we turned around! I still plan on finally doing Wilson at some point on a weekday to avoid the crowds, and no...

About to head out the door and maybe it's too late, but just remembered something.
Sean, Dima told me you had a new run of EisPiraten stickers or cards or something. If you can bring me some I'll spread them around a bit.

Made it to 7465 and Telegraph from Middle Fork Lytle Creek, then down via Icehouse Saddle and Middle Fork Trail today. Might take a day or two to get a trip report up, but here is a teaser. There was a summit register there placed by Sierra Club in 1966! Only a few entries and the last one was 1993!...

I'd like a headcount too, I was planning on bringing some morning treats!
I'll be in the busted-ass green Subaru and have a blue pack.
As for beer, warm weather calls for something on the lighter end of the spectrum, beyond that I'm not going to be picky!

I didn't take many pictures of that area since we were only in it for a very short time. This is looking down from the ridge we descended towards the little horseshoe bend a bit upstream from the main falls, this bend can be seen in the 7.5 USGS maps: fishfalls1.jpg This is looking down at the water...

Strawberry Peak and Mount Lawlor from Colby Canyon – trip report and photos
Yesterday I was looking for a shorter day trip to test out some new trail runners and a new running pack, and because I had evening plans that weren't compatible with a 10-12 hour day. Strawberry Peak has been on my list for a while and is well known for the scrambling approach on the west ridge. Th...

Upper Cucamonga Canyon exploration - trip report and photos
After doing and researching other trips in the area over the last couple weeks, Cucamonga Canyon caught my eye on the map. The south end has been closed for the last year , but I didn't find a renewal order, so supposedly the closure ended the day I was going to be up there (4/12). I didn't want to ...

Re: Pt. 7465
Very helpful pics, thanks! The scramble north from there definitely looks tough. I see a line that might be doable, but I wouldn't be too surprised if once you get there it's too slippery with loose soil and fine gravel in key steep sections. I certainly wouldn't want to go back down that way from h...

I looked at 7465 from Cucamonga on Thursday (was exploring Cucamonga Canyon from above and got turned back, so made a quick trip to the summit while I was close, still need to put together a report) and wondered about it. Following the ridge from Telegraph out and back certainly looks like the simpl...

Re: West Mermaid (Peak 4654) via West Fork Bear Creek - trip report and photos
I've seen that before, thanks for the reminder. My plan is to take the canyon down as far as possible until I hit something I'd need gear for, then figure it out from there. That report doesn't mention bypasses, but I suppose he wouldn't be looking for them if he doesn't need them anyway. Plus, I'm ...

I'm actually planning on checking out Cucamonga Canyon on Thursday, never been there before. Cucamonga Peak off trail via Deer Canyon and south ridge - trip report and photos
After doing Sugarloaf and Ontario from Falling Rock Canyon over the weekend I got curious about other non-standard routes up Ontario and Cucamonga, so I started looking at the map for ideas. Good point! I would certainly recommend doing the loop in the direction I did for that reason and because descending all that loose rocky stuff isn't much fun.
