Re: Gold Mine Near Icehouse Saddle
The real name of the mine is the Lytle Creek Mine. https://mrdata.usgs.gov/mrds/show-mrds. ... d=10189154
Just explored it yesterday. There was a cute chipmunk living inside! There are three adits. One next to the trail, one above that, and another one above that. Have fun exploring!

Re: Mines in Las Flores Canyon
Hello everyone! about 6 months ago, my brother, 1blazepatrick1 and I were excavating the mcnally mine in las flores canyon when we decided to find the mystery #5 tunnel. CrazyHermit made a wonderful blog post about the mcnally mine which he referenced in his website as The New TunnelI . I found what...

Re: Mining Claims // Monitor Consolidated Claims
There's also the township/section corner point. That point together with the two railroad ends are inconsistent. But looking at the other panels in that plat set, it looks like the section boundary line isn't drawn consistently, so maybe ignoring it (like you did) is the right answer. Tool lazy to ...

Re: Mining Claims // Monitor Consolidated Claims
This post reminded me to try to overlay this map onto any modern map, like you have done here. I just played around with it, and it really looks like this map of plats is crooked, and doesn't line up. Were you able to get good alignment? Not really. My only two familiar points on the plat map was t...

Mining Claims // Monitor Consolidated Claims
Hello everyone. I found a bunch of old land surveys from the 1880s and on and I found one particular one of interest to me. Basically what the map is showing are the locations of mining claims in the section, range, township format. I downloaded an overlay on google earth to show the township range ...

Me and my brother re-excavated Bryant's exploratory mine. After we got out of the mine, my brother and I began to walk back out when we heard a sound like birds flying. About 200 feet to the left of Bryant's mine was a massive landslide which happened before our eyes! A huge chunk of the canyon wal...
