Re: Missing forum member (Colin Walker)

I was just reading this thread again thinking about that beautiful Rose peak we climbed in 2023. Sooo sad to believe that it was the last time Colin would be hiking. His 3 year anniversary is approaching. It would be nice if we could go back there for a memorial hike.
RIP

Re: Fortalezas, San Sevaine Road, Joe Elliot CG and Beyond

David- So my friend Justin (rock hounder) recently did some trail work up to Baja Fortaleza if you start from Etiwanda Preserve. That is where I started with the intention of doing all three peaks. But yes, it was a very hot day! So, I shall go back.
Justin is planning on making a route through ...

Bob’s Corner also known as the Spruce Grove trail junction or “Bob’s Gap”

Bob’s Corner and the surrounding Chantry Flat trail networks were established during Southern California's "Great Hiking Era" (the 1880s to the late 1930s)

Bob's Corner was historically a vital junction that saw mules and ...

Re: Tip toe through the PDB: Sunset Peak

I did Lookout Mtn from Cow Saddle and just sneaked in behind the gate with some friends. There is an opening by the rocks. I think the gates are just to scare people. No one was actually on the property. I believe the trail is part of the Angeles National Forest so they really can't stop anyone from ...

I had estimated this week driving to work that the snow line was at about 5200' after this last storm. That seems to about check out with your photos?

The family and I went to Trail Canyon falls on Sunday, (we had never been), and were in T-shirts and shorts!

JOSEPHINE PEAK IN THE SNOW!

First time I've seen snow at Josephine Peak. It was a chilly 35-degrees and windy at the summit. I brought some hot apple cider to keep warm.
It was a another beautiful day well spent in the San Gabes.

SMITH MOUNTAIN

Last Thursday, two friends joined me on a hike to Smith Mountain. Standing tall at 5,111 this peak is a great workout. The last 800 feet of climbing packs a punch. This was my fourth time bagging this peak but and It has been at least 6 years or more since I hiked the upper Bear Canyon trail ...

ORCHARD CAMP

A couple of weeks ago I checked out the re-opening of the Mt. Wilson trail.
I met a friend at Lizzies Inn and began the hike on the Mt. Wilson trail. We then ascended Charlies trail then re-joined the main trail to Orchard Camp. The trail was nice. From Charlies trail the views were awesome and we ...

FALL CREEK TRAIL

Two weeks ago, Bill and I planned a carpool shuttle and hiked Fall Creek trail. We met at Hidden Springs campground. After a short drive, we started at the white gate. Yes we wandered around. We didnt go on the private property just walked by it on the road where you can access the main trail.
