Re: Now It's Mine!
A few weeks ago I was leading a group hike on the Mt Lowe road.
To my surprise in the middle of the road was a cool tripod. Who knows if it was dropped by a biker or hiker but it still had the carabiner on it.

CALPINE LOOKOUT
Last week Missy invited me to spend two nights at the Calpine Lookout located in Tahoe National Forest. Calpine Lookout was constructed in 1934 by the CCC. It was actively used until 1975 and stands tall at 5,980 ft. The Lookout was very cool. We were surrounded by tall Pine trees. It was very seclu...

STRAWBERRY PEAK MOUNTAINEERS ROUTE
I hiked with a few members of my crazy Wednesday group to Strawberry Peak via the mountaineer's route. We met at Red Box, left a few cars there, and shuttled to Colby Canyon. Trailhead. The trail was in good shape. I have a friend who is currently doing maintenance work so it was looking very nice. ...

Thanks for the TR Jerry. I've been wanting to go back and was curious how the trail looked after the fire. The last and only time I was there it kicked my butt!

Are you talking about Mt Gould by Kearsage Pass? I attempted it but was too exhausted to finish. This was a few years ago. I would love to go back when I'm in better shape.Uncle Rico wrote: ↑Have you been up Mt. Gould? Seems like an easily accessible 13er. I could be persuaded if you wanted to give it a go sometime.

The gate was open and we drove down FR 3N39. The road condition: -It wasn't too bad with the exception of a few rough spots. -On a positiv...

HJ True about the fires, much more to be concerned about now. I actually met jfr last year at the very smoky Kearsarge Lakes, I was heading back out and he went north. A couple ladies also turned around just before reaching the pass and I gave one of them a ride home to Pasadena. Did your neighbors ...

Awesome! I attempted White a few years ago. My crazy carpool driver got me so sick from the Bumpy road. We camped by the gate. Needless to say the next morning I was too sick and miserable to hike it.
