Re: Semi urban hike, Johnson's Pasture
I'm sure it was a nice pleasant hike. I drove by the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park on Thursday and the road was closed along with the Glendora Mtn Road. Signs were posted that the roads would be closed for the ext 5 days. Lucky for you they opened it but unfortunately the GMR is still closed. Nice...

Re: Chocolate Lakes 08/12/16
We did the Chocolate Lakes loop back in 2006. We lost the trail on the descent to Ruwau Lake and started boulder hopping down. About halfway, I looked to my right and saw a perfectly maintained trail. Where did that come from? It's a great hike in beautiful country. Thanks for the post! I'm sorry t...

Sean and I camped out at Horseshoe Meadows on Saturday evening to bag Mt. Langley and started our journey at 4am on Sunday. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/2003960/DSC05652.JPG We hiked up to the junction of New Army Pass Split and continued on to the Cottonwood Lakes...

Re: 4 PEAKS: MILLER, SAN J, JEAN & CORNELL in San Jacinto
Hi It might sound unusual but according to the station Rangers there was a sand storm that came in from Mexico and they closed off the areas to hiking. Tbey were very concerned about hikers going in that area. I'm sure there was an illegal way of hiking through but we weren't about to take that chan...

4 PEAKS: MILLER, SAN J, JEAN & CORNELL in San Jacinto
On Saturday morning, the original plan was to hike up to Taquitz Pk and to rack up some miles, However the Rangers warned us of a sand storm and closed the trail leading to the Peak. The alternative was to bag some nearby peaks including San Jacinto the easy way. We headed towards Round valley https...

Dragon's Back to Arlington, Cathedral & La Cumbre Peaks.
I heard about a really cool hike called the "Dragon's back" trail in the Santa Barbara area, that involved some awesome rock climbing up a steep ridge that resembled the humps of a Dragon's spine. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/1989685/20160612_165836.jpg S...
