I'm assuming those properties won't be abanoned regardless of whether they burned or not. We were near the old RV park property at cow canyon saddle a few months back. The structures definitely burned, but there was still some very lively shooting target practice happening over there.

This past weekend, wesweswes and Rich and I climbed Mount Williamson. We did this over 3 days: car to camp, camp to summit to camp, and back to car.

To say a thing more about this: google cannot legally use OSM data. The ODbL license is explicitly a copyleft one: they are allowed to use OSM data (which is ODbL licensed) in a product, but ...

If I edit openstreetmap, I am explicitly releasing it to the public to use under a very permissive license: https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright/. It becomes a public resource. Anybody can use that data to do with it whatever they like, as long as they give credit.

Minimal sheep (or any) poop on any of this trail. The brush all burned, so it's all exposed and hot and dry now. Should get more lively over time.

Just looked through the newspaper archives. Lots of old articles about fishing, potential dam construction, and rescues of hikers. The rescue victims maybe we hunting for waterfalls, but none of the articles I came across are specific about that.

For work I was up on the mountain during several blast tests. Lots of deaf cows wandering around. And when the 10,000 lb ANFO went off (making diamonds) the whole damn mountain shook.

As a proud graduate of Socorro High School, I finally feel seen. Never been to the top of M mountain; they blow stuff up over there, and it's not open to the public, except on special occasions

I've done some taste tasting now. The cheap bag from near the farm is pretty good. The very expensive bag from the bougie coffee shop is also pretty good

Rattlesnakes need to learn to stay in their lane, they aren't allowed in Bear Canyon. In Santa Barbara they have a whole canyon that is designated for their use and a peak just off the East Fork.

The route is straightforward, but it has almost certainly overgrown in the years since we went over there. Bring loppers and saws, and expect to go slow.
