Re: Mountain bike ideas
Viper is a singletrack trail at the end of that ride and would be spicey with touring gear. Probably better to stick with fire road.

Re: Reporting pot farms
Following this as I have also found another recently active grow.
What if grow is up stream of a protected species? Would that kick off a clean up? Is there a way to find out if pot tax revenue has any "victim fund" to offset any perceived cost to society.

Re: Plane wreckage near Winston peak.
I'm thinking mid air collision because there is only the tail section. But the mechanical engineering of the controls is cable and levers not electronics and hydraulics. So that doesn't fit the f86 saber. This pic show what appears to be a seat. And again not what you'd expect from a military jet. h...

Fabric and wood is not what I found. Poking around the internet I found this site. www.av.qnet.com/~carcomm/wrecks.htm After a bit of scrolling on that site I came across this. 09/04/56 Two F86's #49-1336N&48-313N From Ontario ANG Base Collide And Crash Above Mount Pacifico. This is where I foun...

Re: Winston ridge 6/17/18
Was there just after Christmas. The top(south) of the "corridor" had the best rock of the whole corridor. 20171228_090912.jpg We descended from Winston ridge directly north to the gully just west of the second or farther north "4". Found a close out section in the gully we were i...

Re: Above Bear Creek
Not sure how this guy would have gone? To get to Triplets from the North and not take the route Walker is considering would seem improbable in the time he claims. And I wouldn't consider Walkers route an East ridge? If his East ridge to Triplets was accessed from the drainage I was in he would have ...

Re: Above Bear Creek
I hiked through the area north of triplets back in August. No signs of current grow activity. I was impressed by finding boot tracks in some extremely unlikely spots. And I did see small signs of grow operations scattered across the whole area. Like Walker said this area is a beautiful forest. What ...

Re: Three points loop
I was able to stay dry. Every time I came to a new pool there was a different challenge to get past it. And yes I did end up with some PO! This section of LRC is untouched. Something that is unique anywhere, but especially given the proximity to 10 million people.

Three points loop
Started at Three Points at 530am just before sunrise. Headed north on PCT and to my surprise crews had been cutting brush for about first 100 yards of the trail. This is awesome as it's much needed. But what I couldn't see in the dim light was they had not yet collected what they had cut. 100 yard o...

True about the wilderness from Islip west to the other side of the tunnels. The one mile from there to eagle roost is indeed walkable and possibly my favorite mile in the crest area.

Re: Alimony Rd to PVR to Devils Punchbowl
Thanks for the report on PVR. Good to hear that Alimony provides access to PVR as well. Like Tom I've been curious about changes in bike restrictions due to pct rerouting. If south fork to high desert to burkhart is now the official pct. Then would any portion of the former pct between Islip saddle ...

mid country report
I've been cross country hiking through the mid country of the San Gabriels for years and see random rock outcropings. This summer we targeted to climb some. We found great climbs on quality rock in beautiful places. I feel blessed to have places like this to go to so close to where I live. Here's so...

Check with Newcombs Ranch. I believe that I read somewhere they have a cabin/house for rent near the restaurant, Chilao area. Also Buckhorn ski club allows overnight guests in a communal lodge for a small fee.

Re: kratka ridge to Mt. Waterman traverse 08/02/14
Thanks for the report. Do you have a track of the traverse west of the lift on Kratka to Waterman? I tried to follow the ridgeline the entire way, but ended up at the exit to Buckhorn. There is a big drop on the actual ridge that seemed like trouble. sorry no track, at the saddle I continued southw...
