I'm sitting at da Village Grind in Wrightwood with a couple as we speak. 8) First group I ran into about 3 weeks ago....GUFFY is a kinda rallying point for them.....3 weeks from border and lots of desert ;)

Was up to the mine some 20 yrs ago, still have some of the specimens. Used to be a cable strung up we used to climb up with and misc mine equip laying around.

Expect the worst and hope for the best?
Baden still had snow when I left Big Pines area on Monday. Haven't been up trail so hence the above. 8) The low was 36 with a high of around 58 for about 30 minutes.

Rock slide.....north slope Pine mtn, farthest west slide. Last year, let loose about 10:30 am while I was headed down Prarie Fork. I'll throw in a personal (non-scientific) opinion: Maybe these apex predators are thinking, planning, learning creatures that aren't completely bound by hard-wired instincts. If so, they might be able to occasionally think outside the box and try something different.

It's a rich red meat. The taste is highly variable. Like any wild game, what the animal has been eating will affect the taste. The fat is sun-rendered down into an oil that can't be beat for preserving and waterproofing leather.

Isn't that why the sign at the trailhead at the Vincent Gap trailhead for Baden-Powell that warns off treacherous conditions during winter hiking and steep terrain being dangerous during the snow season there for?
