Yeah, maybe we can work something out. I don't know anything about the different routes, but there's time to figure it out.

Re: Nordhoff Peak via Pratt Trail
Nordhoff is on my list, but it is a freakin haul from south OC. I think the slowest part of the trail is on the 405 around LAX.

SGbob,
Thanks for the poison oak tip. I'll try that in the future. It's too late for me now that rashes have appeared. One fresh bloom on my lower back at the shirt line this morning.

Taco, With your canyoneering skills, it would not be nearly as intense as it was for me. Lots of cool falls. Scottawr, Here is the rope you probably saw fixed to a boulder below Single Track: https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/2.bp.blogspot.com/-QX2UkRyaWuA/VOo2oL8tUyI/AAAAAAAAJKM/9dIGZhOgvTw/s6...

Tanriverdi Falls
Tanriverdi Falls is one of the crown jewels of the Santa Ana Mountains, and probably seen by only a handful of people each decade. There is no trail and no easy way to get there. I considered several approaches but decided descending from the top of the canyon was still the best. I had to bypass 8 o...

Re: Granite Mtn. #2-Anza Borrego
Almost a year ago, I commented that Granite was on my list and I finally got it last week. I took the Rodriguez Canyon route along the south ridge instead of the more frequent east ridge. There is an old mining road on the south side that ends at two mine shafts. We entered and explored both, but ra...

I've kicked around the idea of doing the Silver Moccasin Trail connecting Baden-Powell with Chantry Flat. You could do it either direction, about 53 miles.

Pretty cool way to get up there. I followed the trail all the way around to the saddle on the other side and came up that ridge. The boring way. I remember the trail seemed endless on the way down, hugging every twist in the canyon

Amazing climb on bad rock. The route you drew looked hard, then the up close pictures looked outrageous.

Re: Annual Winter Mountaineering Clinic
I'm not sure I can make the winter clinic, as much as I would enjoy it. I thought I'd throw another unrelated idea out there for you... How about a basic canyoneering clinic? From my own perspective, really basic, like what kind of rope and webbing to use, building and testing hitches, belay/rappel ...

That is a cool place. I didn't know there was a backside trail. Does it intersect lower on the Trabucco Canyon trail? The only other trail I know about is the one going up to Los Pinos ridge. I am not sure about the spelling of Yaeger/Yeager. Both Caltopo.com and Openstreetmap.org show it as Yaeger ...

Re: A Whole Lotta Bear Canyon (and some Brown Mountain)
Fun trip. Lots of people on the Brown trail and summit. Bear Canyon was quite secluded. For a couple of miles, there wasn't much left of the trail. The ribbon and recent cutting helped, but we still all had to tromp through some poison oak. A couple of photos and vids... https://eispiraten.com/image...

Those are nice hidden waterfalls. The admission price is pretty expensive: poison oak and wet.
