Re: Cabin Fire - shit!
Yep Mike. A couple of googles today revealed to me that there is a supposed trail up Bichota to Rattlesnake!? Time to renovate that one! A few years after the Curve fire, I managed to navigate the switchbacks of the "trail" seen on topos from Bichota canyon up a southern drainage to the R...

Re: Cabin Fire - shit!
I agree HikeUp, judging by the TV coverage it looks like the fire may make a run up Bichota. What a shame. I thought the the Curve Fire charred the place years ago. Maybe, it will be time to put in a new trail!

Agree with arocknoid. (Nice detail!)
Immature red-tailed hawk.
(If that was a broad-winged or an aplomado, someone better send out a rare bird alert!!! )

Re: This Year's Fawn Crop
Thanks, arocknoid! I'll put up a few more pictures when I get the chance. To be clear, I'm not keen on having the tub there to "attract" animals. The water tub is there to keep them away from the house. The animals were chewing through sprinkler heads, pool covers, and hoses as well as bre...

Re: Hey, where is everyone?
I did a couple of lower peaks this week, Mendenhall (quite trashy) and Jupiter Mountain up near Green Valley. Hard to believe the Angeles National Forest goes so far north. I doubt either are worthy of a full report. Here is a hyperlapse video of the ascent of Jupiter, using beta software from Micr...

Both are speckled rattlesnakes... specifically the Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake. (Diamond-backeds only peek into the SE corner of California.) Nice pics! It's cool to see how the speckleds' coloration match their environment.
