Akawie, Vetter, Mooney, and Devil
I drove up the ACH to pick up some easy HPS peaks. These are pretty far down on my list since a lot of the HPS peaks are garbage. But my standards are low, and they fill the time between more interesting adventures. Nothing worth noting at P7160.

Re: CHANTRY FLATS
Falling Sign Junction is on the Gabrielino in Big Santa Anita. It doesn't look like you were on Winter Creek. If you had hiked Winter Creek you would have ended up at Hoegees, not Sturtevant.

Yeah Will Thrall is cool... "Will" makes me think of willpower, and "thrall" brings to mind enthralling. Children of the Liberator
Nothing particularly new here other than the re-establishment of Owen Brown's headstone atop Little Roundtop, but still cool and interesting local history nonetheless.

I believe it is embers from the Bridge fire that got started up on Saturday with the Sana Ana winds.

Burger Peak via Forsyth Creek
About 45 minutes north of St. George, Utah sits the Pine Valley Mountains. They rise to over 10,000 feet providing a stark contrast to the red sandstone that is the hallmark of the lower elevations. The mountains hold snow deep into the spring which provides a beautiful backdrop to the local ...

Re: Hillyer and a side of Devil
Sorry I missed it.
Devil Peak, the observatory and Mt. Mooney used to be heavily forested with no views except from parts of the road connecting the three. Which fire burned all of the trees? The station fire?
Pretty sure it was Station. Here's a look from the other side of your photo ...

Re: Hillyer and a side of Devil
You probably have one of the last photos of this area before the Station Fire, which occurred four months later in August 2009. I think a couple of those trees in the background survived, but I failed to take a picture from that angle.

Mine tour
The owner of the Mine near the Monte Cristo area has offered to give us a tour November 9th. If you are interested in going let me know so I can send him the list.
He will open the gate and we can drive up instead of walking to the mine area
I had posted this in Hidden Springs but someone blocked ...

Justina and I *tried* watching it last night. I think in the right context it would be a lot of fun, but we couldn't get through more than 30 minutes. I recommend alcohol or the green stuff before watching! Its a fun concept, well-executed. Basically a live action version of Wiley Coyote and the ...

Mount Emma, Old Emma, Cole Point
More pointless HPS peaks, well, Cole Point (HPS #222) is actually a "point" so by definition not pointless. All of these peaks are near Palmdale.
I started at a turnout on Mount Emma Road where there was an official trail. Mount Emma (HPS #254) and Old Emma (HPS #274) are usually hiked together ...

I ran across this LA Times article today, apparently it's in escrow right now. I don't see it happening, gathering about $17M from people purchasing exclusive passes. I also don't see how they plan to make snow.

No disrespect intended.

Cool, remote area!
Your elevations maybe don't match up with the USGS scan on Caltopo(?) but I see the area you were in based on other place names you mention.
The person who put it up on Peakbagger used his GPS for the measurements, you can see the location of the peaks there.
The hike ...
