Mt Baldy via Register Ridge
Continuing with my Whitney training, yesterday I hiked to Mt Baldy via Register Ridge trail. I'm giving myself credit for reaching the top of the ridge faster than the last time I was there and summing Baldy quicker too. I've been struggling with trying to go faster and it's really depressing so yes...

Re: Bailey Canyon Falls: July 2024
Thanks HikeUp. Everytime I've been there it's a little challenging with all the ruts and overgrowth.

CHANTRY FLATS
This morning Jeff and I checked out Chantry Flats. We really had no specific trails in mind but we were both excited to see Sturtevant Falls. Thank God It wasn't crowded. There were only a few cars in the parking lot and a couple of bikers. As we descended the newly paved road, the first thing we ob...

Mine tour
The owner of the Mine near the Monte Cristo area has offered to give us a tour November 9th. If you are interested in going let me know so I can send him the list. He will open the gate and we can drive up instead of walking to the mine area I had posted this in Hidden Springs but someone blocked my...

MONTE CRISTO MINE TOUR
I had received a personal invitation for a tour of the Monte Cristo Mine from Lars the current owner. Last Saturday me, Ed, Jeff, Dima & Matt met Lars at the locked gate by the Monte Cristo campground. We followed him in two cars. I've walked this road many times but driving on it was quite a di...

Monrovia & Rankin but no Clamshell
So after reading Tekewins report on the Rincon road I got my permits to drive the Rincon road from Glendora Ranger station (by the way is very nice) Anyways, they gave me 3 codes to the gate so I have access until December 14th. As Tekewin said the road is nice. Some areas are smoother than others b...

Re: Monrovia & Rankin but no Clamshell
Carl- we did drive to Spring Camp. I can't recall if there was water. I did see someone camping off the road. We didn't hike very far down that road.

MT LEWIS 8396
I've been helping one of my Wednesday crazies accompliish the Sierra Club HPS list. Last Wednesday we scheduled Mt Lewis. Since the road was closed to Dawson Saddle we decided to walk up the road. I was also curious about the progression of the construction. We started around 8am. There was only one...
