We spent last weekend in Death Valley. The approaching storm front did not bring rain, but the winds were blasting at times. If you want to see a great wildflower display, go now. The canyons off the valley floor have the best flower display I have seen in a few years. The winds made picture taking difficult, but here are a few.

The first canyon we hiked was Room Canyon. The hike is documented here.

The entrance to Room Canyon.

The first thing you notice are unusual rock formations.

Room Canyon then squeezes down to a nice section of narrows.

If you want to see more, you must crawl on your belly like a reptile.

Now the canyon reveals an amphitheater. There is an echo here.

You also have to crawl back out.

Do not miss the side slot either.

The next hike was Foundry Canyon which is documented here.

Foundry Canyon is popular with canyoneers who with a car shuttle will rapel the entire canyon. See this report.

The canyon walls at the entrance suggest some ancient temple.

The canyon narrows down.

The pupfish were having a good spring, too.

Happy hikers hoping that nothing falls through the crack.
