Sucks about the endo.
I did that trip (only one way) last summer. Fun enough but probably wouldn't do it again. Having not ridden in years I was a little sore.

We put booties on the mutt. You must have these for any lengthy trip. Be prepared to hear, "HOW CUTE BOOOOOTIES" at least once a mile.

Thanks for the rundown, Taco! I've got a feeling that 2011 winter won't be spent in the desert.

According to my sources Sequoia and Kings Canyon to be shutdown - The parks will close at midnight tonight for an undetermined period of time.
Can't speak for anything else. Just the parks mentioned.

Best picture I have of my ride:
Tuesday I coast to the shoulder of the 101s. Thursday I rolled it off the 110n. It's been a rough week.

20090201 The Dawn Mine
Ahhh snow trip reports. I'd really rather not see another one for a while. So allow me to entertain you with a location that's currently "off-limits". Some buddies and I explored the Dawn Mine two years back. Here are picture of us as fledgeling adventurers. Anyone's evil twin brother been...

I notice that there's already graffiti on one of the signs. HJ It's a good thing I've never seen this happen... I'm not sure I'd be able to stop myself from driving a carbon fiber trekking pole through their calf. Local overpasses - have at hit kids. They need some decoration. Stay away from...

Your attempt to go on topic for your benefit has resulted in your image not working for one reason or another. One of the dangers of hosting images from home. I'm sure the internet will start working again eventually. Seriously though, if you want I can clean the thread up. I'm sorry for taking it ...

Well, you guys killed any chance I had of a reasonable discussion so I guess I'll just post this picture of me in my feathered friend. It's alright but it really needs some separated legs.

I'm thinking about replacing my sleeping bag. I think they're exceedingly silly.
I think the idea of having a down pants/jacket/booties would add a few ounces but be much more functional.
Has anyone tried this?
Has anyone tried this in a hammock situation?
Any brand/style suggestions?

Haven't done that hike. I guess I'll have to add it to the list since it's apparently required reading.
How are the Salomon boots holding up? I thrashed my pair of XA's quick... but they were nice and lightweight.
Good luck with that upcoming wedding!

Re: Vicent Gap to East Fork
Make sure to get an early start or, my friends like to leave the afternoon before (we actually leave drunkenly, at midnight... but we know the way) and stay at Mine Fork camp the first night. It makes the run down to Fish Fork much more leisurely. Here's the easter egg hunt: 30x rivercrossing 2x rat...

I was up the east fork last weekend - Depending on your height, you're probably looking at getting wet up to at least your knees. It's lots of fun though!

Thanks Davantalus. I have to get in there and explore those mines sometime soon. Have you done the ridge route up that mountain before? Haha. I once got about halfway up the hill and realized it wasn't heading up to echo. But to answer your question, nope! I recently headed up the canyon following ...
