Re: Eastern San Gabriels Flyover

Nice shots - makes me want to climb and fly.

Gives better perspective than Google earth.

Great job - I'm jealous sitting in my office watching the clouds form over the summit of Baldy right now.

Re: Iron Mountain #1 9/27

What time do you guys go when doing the traverse? I'm in if it starts early enough? A 4:30 AM start would put us at the top of Baldy by 7:15 AM and to Iron by 9AM, it's that dreaded return up the Traverse in the opposite direction in the heat that sucks. If we could make it back over West Baldy by 1...

TR for Mt Rainier Camp Muir & Mt. St. Helens South Rim

Sorry it took a few extra days but here it is. Eight of us flew up to SeaTac Airport to do the double day hike of Camp Muir and Mt. St. Helens a week ago last Friday. We started our day at Paradise Inn at 8AM on Saturday the 23rd. We made tree line in less than an hour; from there it was fairly easy...

Re: Overdue TR: Mount Rainier via Disappointment Cleaver

Author Message simonov We did not summit, we only went to Camp Muir. Conditions were outstanding, sunny, clear and warm until we reached the camp where windy conditions coming across the gaps made it time for warmer cloathes. Glaciers and snow fields were exposing crevases which were opening up more...

Re: Hunter shoots hiker

It's hard to fathom that the boys could not tell the differnce between a Bear and a human being dressed in cloathing of any sort. My heart and prayers go out to the family. While doing the PCT in the area by the north end of the Anza Berrego Desert State Park I was alone and heard a significant amou...

Re: Mt. Baldy 2008-08-02

Hopefully the crowds will realize that we need to help support our "Wildlife Area's" and some will realize they do not belong out there. I saw at least three people with inadequate amounts of water - 1 Twelve Once Bottle of water on the high side of Devils Backbone. That scares me. Richard...

Re: Mt. Baldy 2008-08-02

What time did you stop at the Ski Hut? What time did you make the summit? We did the same hike today. We were the three folks with the Brown Dog. We were at the Ski Hut at 9AM and reach the top by 10AM. When we reached the top I looked at the other two people and said welcome to Disney Land, now let...

Mount Rainier

I'm leaving in three weeks to go to Camp Muir on Mount Rainier and would like to know if anyone has been up there this summer?

Two, what should I expect?

Three, what difficulties has anyone encountered in the past?

I'm in great shape to do it so I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks Lilbitmo :D
