I've been working out of Beverly Glen - looks like that area got about the worst of it.

Considering the topography, I think the variability in rainfall totals is believable. Lots of orographic lift and rain shadows.

Re: Pirate Hikes for Pre-Schoolers

Does anyone know why a mountain with its own website is ignored everywhere else? I'm FB friends with Rex Frankel. He posts about Mt. Rexmore on FB. His nonprofit purchased the land to connect with other open spaces. The "peaks" are probably too new and too small to be of much interest to ...

I think he did enjoy the mustard. Last year we ate enough on a hike in Chatsworth I actually felt sick afterwards. Totally worth it though.

Re: Pt. 3,650 via South Ridge

It looked possible, but hard to say without going back for another look. There will be some additional brush, but the crux will be that rocky section just beyond 3650 that starts the ascent to 4202. I'm guessing it's class 3. Are there sections that are more than that? That's the question. Sounds a...

Re: Pt. 3,650 via South Ridge

Brilliant. I have on my to-do list your very route, except making it a loop by continuing on from 3650 along the rollercoaster to eventually Pt 4202 and then an easy return back to Clear Creek station and the ACH. How did the route from 3650 to 4202 look? Walker, before he left us, told me he though...

I think all the bumps over there are exactly the same. At least that's how I remember them! Well, there is the variation of what the The La Tuna Fire burned and didn't, and its brushier on the north slope than the south naturally, but yeah the Verdugos are basically like the low elevation front ran...

Yep I was working my way through this area back in 2017 and the fires disrupted a couple routes I wanted to take. I've mostly completed the Verdugos now. They function as basically warmup for the Gabes and thats pretty much how I used them! Fond memories. I still need to bag Tongva peak though. Will...

Thanks for the tips, JakubRZ. I've only been further up Eaton Canyon, haven't explored the areas around the nature center and waterfall, but I'll definitely put them on the list for exploration with Forest.
